Diatonic Triads

Diatonic Triads are the chords that naturally occur in a given scale. Having a good knowledge of diatonic triads is the foundation for the ability to write songs without an instrument as well as becoming a more proficient musician. A musician who has an extensive knowledge of diatonic triads will automatically know which chords they can play given a key. For example:

If I wanted to write a song in the Key of G Harmonic Minor, I would be able to use the following chords to do so, and know in advance that they will work in the given key before I even pick up my instrument...

G Minor, A Diminished, Bb Major, C Minor, D Major. Eb Major, and F Major.

How did I know this so quickly? How did I know this before I even picked up my instrument and "tested" them out?
